FY23-24 South Australia Skilled Migration Nomination Program Open
The 2023-2024 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now open to eligible applicants in South Australia, with new changes from last financial year.
South Australia Migration have now moved to a Registration of Interest (ROI) process to manage the high demand of applications against the limited allocation of nominations. South Australia will also be prioritising the retention of South Australia’s international graduates and temporary visa holders.
What does this mean?
Potential applicants cannot apply for state nomination directly, rather, potential applicants must submit an ROI and be invited to apply for state nomination by South Australia.
Skills in High Demand
Experienced workers with skills in high-demand industries will be targeted through invitations to apply for South Australian nomination.
These industries include:
- Trades and Construction
- Defence
- Health
- Education
- Natural and Physical Science
- Welfare Professionals
South Australia is also looking for individuals with:
- Experience working in the defence industry, and/or
- Highly specialised skills in the digital and critical technologies sectors.
The SA Government has noted that international graduates and other temporary visa holders will continue to be considered across a broad list of occupations (not limited to the above sectors) consistent with previous years.
Offshore Applicants
For applicants that are offshore and seeking to mvoe to South Australia, they will first be required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and select South Australia as their first preferred State or Territory. Once this is submitted, the South Australian Government can view the application and consider inviting you for a Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) or Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa.
The SA government has advised that they will be assessing candidates on merit considering the following factors:
- Their nominated occupation;
- Years and field of skilled employment experience
- English language ability
- EOI points score
