Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) has advised that they are placing a temporary suspension on all State Nomination applications for the subclass 190 and subclass 489 programmes.

This is due to the state meeting their nomination ceiling as allocated by the Department of Immigration & Border Protection.

The following information has been provided in relation to the suspension:

  • Applicants who have paid for a nomination and yet to receive a response from BSMQ have the option to remain in the queue or request a refund for the nomination application charge.
  • Expressions of Interest (EOI) submitted with SkillSelect that are yet to be assessed by BSMQ are no longer valid. Applicants who currently have EOI’s in SkillSelect will need to resubmit an EOI once the state begins accepting nomination applications again.
  • The BSMQ has advised there may be changes to the Queensland Skilled Occupation (QSOL) and only EOI’s meeting the new criteria will be considered
  • BSMQ will provide further advice when the nomination process will reopen.

If you are relying on a nomination from the Queensland State Government and are affected by this suspension, it is recommended to seek professional advice for your next steps.
