Points test reduction for Investor and Business Innovation Stream visas postponed
The Department of Immigration & Border Protection has advised that the reduction of the pass mark from 65 to 50 for the points test, in regards to the Business Innovation & Investment Programme has been postponed pending further consultation and stakeholder agreement.
The original plan for the reduction of the points test was to increase the attractiveness and increase the application numbers of the points tested streams of the Investor and Business Innovation Streams as the Department has experienced reduced programme numbers in the recent years.
The Joint Standing Committee on Migration recently identified that the points test for the Investor and Business Innovation stream visas needed to be revised to increase applications for the visa subclasses.
The Department has now advised that it will further examine the recommendations from the committee and will review the appropriateness of the current points test threshold (passmark).
