2024-2025 State Visa Nomination Allocations for Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 Visas
The Australian Government has announced the state nomination allocations for the 2024-25 program year. The allocations are distributed among the states and territories for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the allocations across the states and territories of Australia:
Victoria
The government has allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places to Victoria. The allocation is divided into:
- 3,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 2,000 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has been allocated 1,800 nomination places. The ACT’s allocation consists of:
- 1,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 800 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
The ACT Government has advised that their next invitation round will be held before 31 August 2024.
Northern Territory
The Northern Territory (NT) has been allocated 1,600 nomination places, doubling the number of places from the 2023-24 program year.
South Australia
South Australia has been allocated 3,800 skilled visa nomination places, an increase of 1,500 places compared to the 2023-24 program year. The allocation is divided into:
- 3,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 800 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Further information about South Australia’s 2024-25 skilled migration program will be announced in the coming weeks.
Western Australia
Western Australia has been allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places. Invitation rounds for the 2024-25 program year are anticipated to be held the first week of each month, commencing in August 2024.
No information has been provided in respect to how many of the 5,000 places are allocated to the SC190 and SC491 visa programs.
The Western Australian state nominated migration program is now open and the Western Australian government will continue to waive the $200 application fee.
There will be additional employment contract arrangements for candidates invited through the General Stream – WASMOL – Schedule 1.
Queensland
Queensland has been allocated 1,200 skilled visa nomination places, divided into:
- 600 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 600 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
New South Wales
New South Wales has been allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places, divided into:
- 3,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 2,000 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Invitation rounds occur throughout the financial year. There are no predetermined or publicly announced dates for invitation rounds for the NSW Skilled Migration program.
Tasmania
Tasmania has been allocated 2,860 skilled visa nomination places, divided into:
- 2,100 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 760 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Tasmania’s Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will reopen to new Registrations of Interest in the coming weeks, with details to be announced in the near future.
These allocations are part of the Australian Government’s effort to attract skilled migrants to contribute to the economic growth and development of the different states and territories of Australia. In addition to the Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa, the subclass 190 and subclass 491 visas are key pathways for skilled migrants to obtain permanent residency in Australia outside of employer sponsored visas.
