FY23-24 ACT & Queensland Migration Programs Now Open
2023-2024 Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Skilled Migration State Nomination Program
This opportunity lets you live and work in the ACT as a permanent resident. You must be nominated by the ACT Government and the nomination initiates a visa invitation from the Department of Home Affairs.
Currently there are no changes to the eligibility requirement from last year’s program. However, requirements may be reviewed later in the year. ACT will advise any significant changes in due course.
Main criteria include having a valid English test and Skill Assessment at the date of your Canberra Matrix submission and ACT nomination. You can find eligibility requirements specific to your individual circumstances on the Australian Capital Territory Migration website.
Key Points to Note
- There will be no requests for further information. If applications are incomplete, they will be refused
- If documents provided at the application stage do not support the information provided in the Canberra Matrix, the application will be refused.
- There are no waiver provisions available.
- The ACT Government will not respond to requests for special treatment based on expiries of English language results and/or skills assessments, change of age and visa expiries.
- There will be no response to request about an individual’s ranking, selection, or invitation process.
If you meet the requirements, you are likely to be invited to apply for the Government Nomination Program in the Australian Capital Territory.
The next invitation round is set to commence before 29 September 2023.
2023-2024 Queensland Skilled Migration State Nomination Program
The 2023-2024 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now open to eligible applicants in Queensland with the state looking to fill a range of critical skill shortages.
Queensland is providing:
- Equal opportunity in the workplace
- Safe working conditions
- The worlds highest minimum wage (OECD 2019) and
- A range of entitlements – including public holidays and paid leave
The below visa types are available to eligible applicants who have obtained a nomination from Queensland.
Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa (Permanent)
Permanent residency which allows migrants to live and work in Queensland permanently.
- This visa is points tested
- Applicants onshore must have an occupation listed on the Department of Home Affairs relevance list of eligible skills occupations
- Applicants offshore must have an eligible occupation on the offshore Queensland Skilled Occupations List
Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional Visa (Provisional)
Provisional visa which allows which allows applicants to live and work in Australia temporarily, with a pathway towards permanent residency.
- This visa is points tested
- Allows you to stay in Australia for five years
- Applicants must live and work within the eligible postcodes
The following eligibility streams are available for both skilled visas:
- Graduates of a Queensland university
- Skilled workers living in Queensland
- Skilled workers living offshore
- Small business owners operating in regional Queensland
For skilled workers residing in Queensland, the eligibility criteria for a State Nomination remain largely the same as last year’s.
