What is the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (ENS) (subclass 186)?

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme allows skilled workers who want to permanently work and live in Australia.

It allows skilled workers to work in Australia permanently under one of three schemes:

The Temporary Residence Transition Scheme

This scheme allows 457 visa holders who have an employer who is willing to offer them a permanent position in that occupation they have been sponsored the 457 visa on.

The Direct Entry Scheme

This scheme is for people who have been nominated by their employer under the Direct Entry stream to work permanently in Australia, for people who have never or only for a small amount of time worked in Australia or other temporary residents who are not on 457 visas.

The Agreement Scheme

This scheme is for skilled workers who have been working in Australia on a visa under a negotiated labour agreement with the Australian Government.
