2024-2025 New South Wales Skilled Nomination Program Now Open 

The 2024-2025 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now open to eligible applicants, with important changes being implemented from the last financial year’s program. 

The NSW government has updated their priority sectors and experienced workers with skills in high demand will be targeted through invitations to apply for NSW nomination for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Regional (subclass 491) visa

  • Agriculture and Agri-food 
  • Advanced Manufacturing 

The NSW Government has published an occupation list for the 2024-2025 program. The list is at the ANZSCO unit group level, with distinct lists for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa. 

Invitation Rounds 

The invitation rounds are anticipated to commence soon, with no specific date having been announced. 

Important Changes 

Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) Visa 

New South Wales has introduced a new direct application pathway for recent graduates from select NSW institutions to apply for the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) Visa under Pathway 3. 

Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) 

Potential applicants in certain occupations may be eligible for a 10% reduction on the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) under Pathway 1.

Expression of Interest (EOI) Criteria 

The New South Wales Government have simplified their approach and removed previous restrictions for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the NSW skilled migration program. 

NSW have updated their skilled mployment criteria and will now adopt the Department of Home Affairs definition of skilled employment. Additionally, any valid EOI with NSW will be considered during the invitation round. 

Nomination Application Charge 

The Nomination Application Charge for the NSW Skilled Nomination Program has been increased to $315.00 (GST is applicable if you are applying inside Australia).
