NSW Trade & Investment Strategy 2035 Released
The NSW Government has released its Trade & Investment Strategy 2035 which will closely align with the NSW State Migration Plan by creating skilled migration pathways to address critical skill shortages.
This strategy is likely to have a direct impact on NSW state nominated visa options.
The NSW government seeks to boost its economy by attracting global talent by seeking to increase exports by $100 billion, supporting 10,000 businesses, creating 30,000 new jobs, and drawing $25 billion in investment.
The strategy is focusing on sectors that have been identified as facing critical skills shortages in NSW which include:
- Housing
- Net Zero & Energy Transition
- Local Manufacturing
- Agrifood
- Defence & Aerospace
- Digital Technologies
- International Education
- Life Sciences & Healthcare
- Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS)
A key feature of the new strategy is the government’s focus on streamlining skilled migration pathways by structuring their skilled nominated visa pathways to align with the NSW Skills Plan and State Migration Plan by ensuring their skilled migration programs directly address skill shortages in their identified priority sectors.
Aligned with their strategy, NSW is set to offer more targeted and accessible migration pathways for the state nominated visa categories being the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa.
