The Business Innovation & Investment (subclass 188) has 5 separate streams which include:

Business Innovation Stream   

This stream is designed for foreign nationals who are looking to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business within Australia and also have proven knowledge, experience and skills in business.

Once you have owned and operated the business in Australia for at least two years you may be eligible for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa.

Investor Stream

This stream is designed for people looking to invest at least A$1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory. The investor must also maintain their business and investment activity in Australia. The investor should also be prepared to hold that investment for at least four years from the date of issue.

Once you have held the investment for at least 4 years, you will then be eligible for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa.

Significant Investor Stream

This stream is designed for people looking to invest at least A$5 million into significant investments in Australia and wish to maintain business and investment activities in Australia. Applicants are able to be nominated by a State or Territory government or by Austrade on behalf of the australian government.

Once you have held the investment for at least 4 years, you will then be eligible for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa.

Premium Investor Stream

This stream is designed for people willing and able to make an investment of at least A$15 million into a premium investment in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.

You must hold this investment stream visa for at least one year before being eligible for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) (subclass 888) visa.

Entrepreneur Stream

This stream is designed for applicants who have received funding of at least $200,000.00 from a third party to undertake entrepreneur activities that have the capacity to lead to the development of a business in Australia or the commercialisation of a product or service in Australia. There is a requirement of the applicant to be under 55 years of age, whoever, this can be waived in certain circumstances.
