2023-2024 Tasmania Skilled Migration Program Now Open
The 2023-24 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now open to new applications with new changes.
These changes include:
- Extending eligibility for subclass 190 nomination to all occupations in the Tasmanian Skilled Employment pathway
- Updated Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List (TOSOL)
- Changes to requirements for massage therapists
- Changes to income thresholds
- Changes to priority attributes
- Detailed policy guidance in the Additional Information, Exclusions and Definitions section of the Migration Tasmania website.
Registrations of Interest (ROI’s)
ROIs are still required to be submitted.
ROIs submitted before 1 July 2023 will remain valid for the 2023-24 program year.
ROIs and applications submitted from 5 July 2023 fall under new eligibility requirements.
In cases where new requirements are likely to be beneficial, candidates may wish to withdraw their current ROI and submit a new one.
The service fee to apply for nomination has increased to $330 (including GST). There is no charge to submit a Registration of Interest.
Main Eligibility Pathways for the Subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment Pathway
- Occupation included in Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Employment Occupation List (TOSOL)
If your occupation is listed on the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Employment Occupation List (TOSOL) and meets any caveats listed for that occupation, you may be eligible to be considered under this stream.
To be eligible, you must have a skills assessment in your nominated occupation and haver been working in Tasmania for six months immediately prior to your application for at least 20 hours per week.
- Long-term employment option – All occupations eligible for this pathway
If your occupation is not listed on the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Employment Occupation List (TOSOL), you can still be considered for a Tasmanian State Nomination if you have been working in Tasmania in a position closely related to your nominated occupation for at least 15 months immediately prior to your application.
Your occupation will still however need to be on the Department of Home Affairs Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
Your employment must meet any caveats listed for your occupation on the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Employment Occupation List (TOSOL).
For both options, you must be living In Tasmania and there must be a genuine need for your position in the business you are employed by.
If you meet the additional attributes in the Gold and Green categories, you are highly like to be invited to apply for the Subclass 190 visa from Tasmania.
Gold Attributes
- You have a skills assessment and directly related employment for at least the past 3 months included in the critical roles list.
Green Attributes
- You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months in an area directly related to your nominated occupation.
- You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 2 years in a role directly related to your nominated occupation.
- You have at least two years prior Australian experience in a skilled role (ANZSCO Skill Level 1-3) in the same industry as your nominated occupation.
- You are currently paid a base salary of at least $94,000 per year or $48.21 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).
