Skilled Migration Occupation Lists Update – Visa Subclasses 189, 190, 489 and 485
The Department of Jobs and Small Business regularly reviews the skilled migration occupation lists to ensure they are aligned and responsive to the labour market needs of Australia. The Department of Jobs and Small Business has concluded the mid-2018 review and the outcomes were reviewed by the Jon David Coleman MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs.
The changes are as follows:
Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
38 occupations have been added to the MLTSSL
Short Term Skilled-Occupation List (STSOL)
27 Occupations have been removed from the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
Regional Occupation List (ROL)
18 Occupations have been added to the Regional Occupation List (ROL)
Occupations with added conditions and applicability (formally known as ‘caveats’) conditions added/changed
Health Workforce Certificate
The following medical practitioner occupations now require a ‘Health Workforce Certificate’ for the position and occupation to be presented with the nomination application:
- General Practitioner (ANZSCO 253111)
- Medical Practitioner NEC (ANZSCO 253999)
- Resident Medical Officer (ANZSCO 253112)
Applicability conditions (formally known as caveats) added/changed
Condition 25 – Imposes a minimum salary of $120,000 pa for footballers and replaced Condition 23 for Ship’s masters and gas or petroleum operators
Condition 26 – Replaces Condition 23 for Recruitment Consultants on the STSOL and reduces the annual salary required to $80,000 pa
