Closure of ACT (Canberra) nomination program to overseas applicants until 1 July 2016

Ethos Migration has received correspondence from the Australian Capital Territory government advising that the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa has now been closed to overseas applicants effective immediately.

The notification was received on the 18th March 2016 at 4PM AEST and highlighted that this change is effective immediately.

In simpler terms, if you are currently outside Australia you will no longer be able to apply for a nomination from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) until the nominations are once again open in July 2016

If your application was lodged prior to 4pm on the 18th March 2016 your application will still remain in the queue and be processed accordingly however the current processing times are 3 – 4 months due to the large number of applications received post publication of the February 23 Occupation List release.

This change will not affect applicants based in Canberra and if the applicant is living in Canberra the subclass 190 nomination program is still open pending the applicant meeting the criteria.
