AHPRA Registration Clarification – Employer Nominated Scheme (subclass 186)
Provisional or Limited Registration can now be accepted for all AHPRA regulated occupations
Previously, Medical Practitioners were required to show evidence of full registration from AHPRA. However, the Department has announced that since 22 December 2022, the Subclass 186 policy has changed to the effect that Provisional or Limited Registration by AHPRA will now be accepted for all 186 visa applications.
What may be required?
Under this new policy the Department may require additional information to confirm that applicants have a sufficient level of registration and a decision maker can request a statement from the nominator stating either their awareness of the applicants ‘type’ of registration, and if they agree that the type of licensing or registration the applicant currently holds or is eligible to hold, will allow them to effectively perform the duties of the occupation in which they have been nominated in.
The Department has confirmed that the new policy will be applied to those applications that are already lodged as well as any new applications.
